Greedy, Greedy, Greedy!

So the tax season is finally upon us and so many of us are thinking money, money, money, right? Oh goodness, how annoying is that. I was just in the tax office getting my taxes done during the week and I cannot imagine all of the other tax offices, as busy as that one was. As I sat in my seat, I saw so many people get flustered because they had to wait a few minutes, their return was not exactly what was expected, or simply they were just greedy. I must say, I don't understand how some people would make it on this earth if they did not have the money they were getting the months of February, March, and April.
What annoys me the most is I’m sure people call day after day to see if their money is at the office. After the receptionist tells them repeatedly that they will be sure to call them as soon as the check arrives, they proceed to call day after day. Why are people so greedy? I do understand that a lot of people and families are in hard economic times, but ask yourself, if we didn’t do taxes and the government just took your money because they wanted to, than where would you be? If you were doing fine without the tax money or “barely making it,” than why is it such a big deal that you need it right now? You were still paying the bills on time and having dinner on the table, but yet you so desperately need that money. On the other hand, I am sure there are plenty of people who beg for this money because they do need this to keep their power on or pay a house payment. I could understand the constant calling then, but still, people just can’t make your money appear right when you want it and there is nothing you can do to get it any faster. So quit bugging people. Also, I have seen many people go into tax offices and not like what they were getting. Some would walk out because their nine thousand dollar return went down to seven thousand. Are you kidding me? I would die, as I am sure many people would, for a seven thousand dollar return and people just walk away from it. Goodness, what is the country coming to? I cannot wait for these months to fly by.

Disrespect

In my college today, I was listening to some of the conversations going on in my class. I am so sick of kids being disrespectful to teachers or others. I am sure that none of you want to hear a rant, but here it goes.
Today with our teenagers or kids, we have way too many of them that are completely rude and disrespectful. So many of them think that they are the ones who know everything , want to let you know that you’re not “their momma” and that you can’t tell them what to do, but they just do not understand that many adults are trying to help them . Many of them are older, wiser, and know what you are about to get yourself into. I have seen kid after kid smart off to a teacher, cuss, or whatever they decide to do disrespectfully, and teachers just let it go because they don’t even want to mess with the child at all. I have seen many great teachers tell me that the reason their retiring is because they can’t handle this generation anymore.
By no means am I saying that I do not mess up. I have given a teacher my oh so great opinion once or twice, but I have never been so rude as to tell them what I am and am not going to do. I just think that children need a serious shift. They need to know that their elders are always treated with respect, whether their right or wrong. It’s about treating them with respect if you want to give an opinion, not telling them your opinion. I just wish some children would see how disrespectful they were being. Some don’t even realize that their doing it because they have been accustomed to it for so long or they just don’t care.
This is seriously scattered brain, but final statement. Children need to know that their kids and the adults are the adults. Treat everybody with respect, no matter what.

Underestimated R&B Singer

As I was riding in my 1995 Mercury Villager to work in lonely Adairsville, I heard a song come on the radio. The song was catchy, upbeat, and somewhat techno.  As I played the song over and over in my head, I could not match the artist to the song. When I got to work, I immediately looked up the song. It was none other than the famous Rihanna with her new number one hit “We Found Love.” Now I must say, I am not a huge Rihanna fan, but as I look up her number one hits, and the way her life has played out I think I have underestimated her ability.
Rihanna moved all the way from her hometown in Barbados to pursue a career in music. She also has thirteen hit singles from six studio albums including the songs Pon De Replay, Umbrella, SOS, Take A Bow, and Only Girl In The World, just to name a few. Thirteen?! That’s an amazing accomplishment. Also, Rihanna is the youngest solo artist on Billboard to receive eleven number one singles. She has received four Grammy Awards, five American Music Awards, and eighteen Billboard Music Awards.  Did I mention that Rihanna is also only twenty three years old? Although she has many awards and number one hits, I still have to disagree with some areas of her music. Most of her songs are very hard to hear and almost always have the same beat to every song. Although “We Found Love” was something different from the R&B artist, after listening to her other songs, I still find the songs to be overly repetitive in the beat.
As you can see, Rihanna has had many accomplishments in her life and I am sure that she is striving for more. As I am still not a fan of her music I can’t deny that she is one successful woman. So as I close I would just like to say well done Rihanna.
